SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - GENERAL LEDGER Email Resume Download Application

Hours of work 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (with flexibility to work other hours) $20.88 per hour - Exempt Position

Review of general ledger and its subsidiary ledgers to ensure the accurate accounting and reporting of PSTA’s financial and statutory reporting. Coordinates with all the departments that impact the general ledger to assure accurate and timely reporting. Records general journal entries, reviews and controls subsidiary accounts in relation to the general ledger to ensure the proper recording of financial transactions.


Coordinates, reviews for validity and updates modules to ensure timely closing and presentation of a financial package monthly, quarterly, and annually, including the year-end close. Prepares Operating, Non-Operating and Combines financial reports for review. Updates general ledger adding and deleting accounts as necessary in accordance with Federal reporting requirements and guidelines. Assist in the final compilation and submission of federal, state and local mandatory reports including but not limited to payroll, and/or other tax-related, and Florida retirement system reports.

May assist controller by reviewing accounting or clerical staff duties, processes and work (output) quality. May assist with training various levels of personnel within the authority about the correct accounting methods and procedures to follow. Revises, develops, and submits to Controller suggestions for changes to policies and procedures that will benefit the authority with compliance and efficiency issues. Prepares and distributes documentation related to grant funds expended with notation as to type of purchase (i.e., fixed asset, grant parts or expense).

Prepares reconciliation reports on all bank accounts. Develops audit schedules with auditors for annual audit. Coordinates collection of audit material when requested. Performs back up responsibilities in all specialists’ functions when required. Acts as liaison with other departments to ensure all entries impacting the general ledger are correct and have adequate documentation. May assist other departments with problem resolution relative to fixed assets, vehicle parts inventory, work orders, grant expenses, etc. when required. Performs additional duties as assigned to assist the Controller and Director of Finance.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:   Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures, data processing capabilities including the use of personal computers and computer networks; regulatory agency reporting requirements; payroll functions; retirement systems; modern office procedures. Skilled in the use and application of personal computers and software including all Microsoft office or equivalents; use of modern office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; develop and maintain effective working relationships with all employees; prepare a variety of financial statements and reports; develop and maintain documentation of different accounting cycles; handle multiple tasks. Ensure that the general ledger is maintained efficiently and accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or related field. Three (3) years professional accounting experience including maintenance of the general ledger or subsidiary accounts/ledgers.

All new Mechanics start on a full-time basis,, work evening shifts including weekends. Mechanics perform vehicle maintenance repairs including, but not limited to, changing lights, check and add fuel and oil, preventative maintenance inspections, steam clean, change tires, check and change batteries. Bending, stretching and light lifting is required. Must possess own hand tools in accordance with PSTA requirements.

All Mechanics applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications prior to hiring.

1.Possess one of the following valid Florida Driver's License and good driving record.

a.) Class "B" Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement and air brakes, or:

b.) Class "B" restricted (valid for 6 months) Commercial

1.Drivers License with passenger endorsement and air brakes.

2. Pass a complete physical including medical history and drug screen (at PSTA's expense).

3. PSTA will perform a criminal background check.

4. PSTA will verify your employment history.

5. PSTA will verify your driving record with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
