Ready to lead? This intensive 10-month leadership development program is designed for high-potential employees who are ready to enhance their leadership skills and prepare for future career growth. Through classroom and hands-on experiential learning, you’ll master:

• Effective delegation techniques 
• Influencing and inspiring others 
• Coaching successful teams 
• Driving positive change 

Go beyond the classroom. Contribute to your community. Through our Leadership PSTA program and employee-driven initiatives, PSTA actively contributes to the communities we serve beyond providing exceptional transit services. Our team members collaborate with Feeding Tampa Bay to address food insecurity, our Safe Place partnership that helps protect vulnerable community members, and the Reach St. Pete bus donation program that extends our community impact.  

Additionally, PSTA employees regularly organize and participate in philanthropic efforts such as food and clothing donation drives, children’s book collections to promote literacy, and Toys for Tots campaigns during the holiday season. These community engagement opportunities allow our employees to make a direct difference in the lives of Pinellas County residents while building leadership skills and strengthening our organizational culture of service. 

This new PSTA People Leaders year-long program is designed to equip our Leadership PSTA alumni who are now people leaders with essential management skills and knowledge. Each month, participants will watch a selected LinkedIn Learning video and then attend an in-person training session to discuss the content and apply the concepts through interactive activities and discussions. We will tailor workshop activities about the existing LinkedIn Learning training video content to reflect PSTA’s unique environment, providing participants with opportunities to apply the learning in real-world scenarios within a supportive, collaborative training space, where they can rely on each other as resources. The program will also feature guest speakers and mentors from PSTA’s executive team, who bring valuable insights from diverse leadership experiences, offering guidance and support as participants navigate their development journey. Additionally, we are working to supplement and enrich this coursework through a new partnership with the Leadership Development Institute at Eckerd College.

PSTA Propel is our newest leadership development experience designed to advance employees’ careers and prepare them for the next level of operational excellence.

The name, Propel, reflects our vision to launch high-potential transit professionals forward, equipping them with the skills, insights, and connections needed to lead with confidence, collaboration, and purpose.

Over the course of this program that will be facilitated by C. Robinson Associates, Inc.,  the cohort will strengthen their leadership foundation through practical learning, peer engagement, and mentorship from PSTA’s seasoned leaders, including our Operations Directors and Chief Operating Officer. The PSTA guest speakers will highlight their experience and share insights on what it truly takes to be a successful leader in transit operations.

Love working with your hands and solving technical challenges? Our in-house PSTA Tech Program provides the opportunity to become an ASE-certified transit bus technician. During this intensive two-year program, you’ll acquire the skills to diagnose, repair, and maintain technically advanced vehicles. Set yourself up for a successful, stable career in the growing transit industry! 

Want to move into management? This program teaches you everything about being a Transportation Supervisor while creating a pipeline of skilled employees ready to step into leadership roles. You’ll shadow experienced supervisors and get hands-on experience with all aspects of the position through recurring four-week rotations covering: 

• Dispatch operations 
• Scheduling coordination 
• Radio operations 
• Street operations 

Passionate about workplace safety and security? This program teaches you the purpose and methods of bringing safety and security to the transit workplace while developing the skills to maintain a proper safety culture. You’ll learn all aspects of the SS&T Department through hands-on rotations, including accident investigations, employee instruction, workplace safety, and site security.
