PSTA Roof Updates
PSTA HQ Roof Project Information
Welcome to your go-to spot for everything happening with the PSTA Headquarters roof project! Our building’s roof is over 20 years old, and the long-awaited upgrade is finally here. From now through October, contractors will be installing a new roof system across the campus to keep our facilities safe and dry for years to come.
Project Snapshot:
Timeline: June–October 2026*
Heads Up: Construction noise is expected throughout the project.
Updates: This is your central hub for the project schedule, visual guides, and safety updates. Check back here for the latest information.
*Timelines may shift due to delays caused by weather or unexpected conditions.
Important Safety Notice | Construction Areas Closed to Staff
Respect the Barricades: Your safety comes first! Areas blocked off by orange barricades, cones, construction fencing, or safety signs are strictly closed to everyone until further notice.
Do not move barricades or enter these zones for any reason.
To keep construction moving and to maintain a safe environment, some parking sections are closed for contractor vehicles, equipment, and materials staging.
Stay alert and steer clear of closed locations to avoid safety hazards.
The roof project is a big undertaking. Contractors are expected to be busy with the repairs until mid-October at the least. Timelines may shift due to weather or other issues we can’t predict.
What’s Happening Now ➡️ Construction Begins
Crews have been working to get the site set up before starting construction, including:
Material Delivery (Friday, June 19): Ten semi-trucks arrived on campus to deliver all the materials for our new roof system.
Crane Onsite (Monday, June 22 – Tuesday, June 23): A crane was onsite to lift these materials and stage them directly onto the roof.
Roof Drain Replacement (Tuesday, June 16 – Friday, June 26): Before the new roof is installed, the building is being prepped for construction, including replacing roof drains.
And finally, construction kicked off on Tuesday, June 23!
Crews started with the admin roof and will work to install the new roof system in stages. See the construction schedule below for more info.
Our roof drains are positioned higher than the actual roof surface. This means that when it rains, water pools on the roof instead of going down the drains – and our Facilities team has to use squeegees to push the water into the drains to help prevent further leaks.
So, replacing the drains is an exciting first step of the project. It’s essential to solve our long-standing leak issues and finally put those buckets in the hallway in our rearview mirror!
Roof Drain Replacements (Now through June 26): Contractors are working in offices and on the roof to replace drains. You’ll be notified if your workspace will be impacted.
Once the material is staged on the roof, installation of the new roof system can begin. We’re tackling the project in sections. Here’s the current construction timeline:
We’re installing a multi-layer roof directly over the existing one. This method allows us to upgrade the roof without tearing off the old one, which keeps the building protected from rain throughout the project.
What are the project phases?
Preparation: Replacing roof drains to improve water flow
Foundation: Fastening new, fire-resistant cover boards to the existing roof
Waterproofing: Applying a dual-layer waterproof seal to protect the building and make it more energy efficient.
Will there be noise?
Yes, the loudest noises will be during the foundation phase. You’ll hear drilling and fastening as the crew secures the cover boards to the roof.
Is my workspace safe?
Yes, the building remains structurally sound and secure for daily operations throughout the project.
