PSTA Rolls Out Bus Wrap Honoring Black History Month

St. Petersburg, FL – In Observance of Black History Month, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has rolled out a new bus wrap featuring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in our community (click here to see photos/video).

“We feel it’s important to honor all aspects of our community and the people who play a huge role. In Pinellas, we are a diverse community, and we want to ensure everyone in our community is represented,” said Brad Miller, Chief Executive Officer of PSTA.” “And what better way than with beautiful art that reflects the values, legacy, and mission of Martin Luther King Jr.“

PSTA worked with a local black artist, Zulu Painter, from St. Petersburg to bring this mural to life.

"My mural featuring MLK is a visual reminder that community unity gains family fitness, mindfulness and love,” said Zulu Painter. “We all benefit from working together. Black history is American history we should all know."

The bus will provide service all throughout Pinellas County.

PSTA has also been an advocate for local, minority-owned business leaders. For the past 5 years, PSTA has been seeking partnerships with Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBEs). The primary goal and objective of PSTA’s DBE program is to level the playing field by providing small businesses owned and operated by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair opportunity to compete for contracts to work with PSTA. As of today, $5 million worth of contracts at PSTA are going towards small, minority-owned businesses.
