Pinellas County, FL – The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA), U.S Representative Kathy Castor, State Senator Darryl Rouson and other leaders will break ground on a new SunRunner station Friday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m. Located along 1st Avenue North in downtown St. Petersburg, the new station will give residents and visitors closer access to the St. Pete Pier, Beach Drive, the Cross Bay Ferry and all of the restaurants, businesses, and hotels along the downtown waterfront.
The SunRunner launched in October 2022 along PSTA's most heavily used corridor. The Bus Rapid Transit service connects St. Pete Beach to downtown St. Petersburg and will be a key transit connection for the newly approved Tampa Bay Rays/Hines Gas Plant District project. The route remains one of PSTA’s top-performing fixed routes and recently celebrated its highest ridership on June 22, 2024.
