PSTA University is your pathway to develop your skills and grow your career. You will have the opportunity to take classes, earn certifications, and expand your career potential. PSTA University includes individual learning sessions as well as special programs: Leadership PSTA, PSTA Tech, Transportation Supervisor Interim Program, and Safety Security and Training Supervisor Interim Program.
Leadership PSTA is a 10-month leadership development program for high-potential employees ready to enhance their leadership skills and prepare for future career growth. The program uses classroom and experiential learning to target critical skills including setting and achieving strategic goals, effective delegation, influencing others, coaching successful teams, and driving change.
PSTA Tech is an in-house technical training program which provides the opportunity for employees to become ASE-certified transit bus technicians. During this intensive, two-year program, students acquire the skills to diagnose, repair, and maintain technically advanced vehicles resulting in a successful career in the transit industry.
PSTA’s Transportation Supervisor Interim Program teaches the duties of a Transportation Supervisor, and creates a pipeline of skilled employees ready to apply for that position. Participants shadow experienced Transportation Supervisors and progress to hands-on work with all aspects of the position’s responsibilities: Dispatch, Scheduling, Radio Operations, and Street Operations through recurring four-week rotations in the program.
The Safety, Security, & Training (SS&T) Supervisor Interim Program teaches the purpose and methods of bringing safety and security to the transit workplace and the daily details of developing and maintaining a proper safety culture. All aspects of the SS&T Department are taught during recurring four-week rotations in the program, including accident investigations and preventability, employee instruction, workplace safety, site security and team work.
