Seniors/Disabled Citizen Discount Program
The Seniors/Disabled discount process has recently been updated, making it easier than ever to receive your Senior/Disabled discount when using PSTA services!
This new discount program allows seniors and people with disabilities to register their tap-enabled credit or debit cards to receive their discount, rather than needing to show their PSTA Special Citizen Photo ID or Government-issued Photo ID showing their age.
How It Works
Registering your tap-enabled credit or debit card is easy!
1. Customers should visit a PSTA Customer Service Center with proof of eligibility to register their credit/debit card.
- Seniors should present a government-issued ID with proof of age (65+).
- Medicare card holders can present their Medicare card as proof of eligibility.
- Disabled Citizens should complete the appropriate application and bring the required medical proof of eligibility. Click here for the Disabled Special Citizen Application.
2. Once eligibility has been verified, your Customer Service Representative will register a credit/debit card for your discounts.
- This program is only available for physical cards at this time. Digital wallets on smart devices or phones are currently not eligible for registration.
- Each card must be registered individually. Multiple cards can be registered to a single account, however the name on the card must match the name on the proof of eligibility documents.
- PSTA currently accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover Card. American Express (AmEx) is not accepted.
3. After the card is registered, riders can simply tap their card on the validator as they board the bus. Riders should tap the same registered fare payment method every time in order to receive their discount and fare-capping benefits:
- Tap-enabled cards registered for discounts are eligible for a half fare ($1.10 for a single ride).
- Tap-enabled cards registered for discounts are eligible for daily fare capping at the reduced fare rate ($2.50/day).
- At this time, credit/debit cards are NOT eligible for monthly fare capping. If you are a daily rider, we recommend registering for a Flamingo Fares card, which is eligible for a reduced fare monthly cap.
Discounts cannot be given to credit/debit or Flamingo Fares customers by the bus driver on the bus. The driver only has the ability to check ID and offer discounts for cash fares paid with exact change. The only way to receive a discount on a credit, debit, or Flamingo Fares card is by completing the registration process.
If your registered credit card is lost, stolen, damaged, or expired, you must return to the Customer Service Center and re-register your new card when you receive it. We do not communicate directly with financial institutions about your discount eligibility.
